Instagram is testing the ability to hide “like” counts on posts in an effort to curb the anxiety that exists on social media.  The idea has come with mixed reviews with some people, especially influencers, who either like to see the “like” count or depend on it to do business with brands. Instagram says it will only test a “small percentage of its global community” and hopes that it will keep people from experiencing “FOMO” or fear of missing out. A similar feature will also be tested on Facebook.  More than likely a user will be able to choose their own experience, either they can hide likes from their posts and others or they can choose to continue to see likes, giving everyone a choice on how to engage with the platform.  Do you feel your social media experience would be better if you were able to hide “likes” from your page and others?
