Taylor Swift: Judge Dismisses Shake It Off Copyright Lawsuit

A judge has dismissed a lawsuit that claimed Taylor Swift misappropriated the lyrics of her popular song “Shake It Off.” The pop artist was accused of stealing words from songwriters Sean Hall and Nate Butler song, “Playas Gon’ Play,” performed by 3LW. Before the lawsuit, Swift denied knowing about the song. A judge on Monday (December 12) dismissed the copyright lawsuit “in its entirety.” According to Variety, both parties entered into an agreement and asked for the case to be dismissed.  It’s unclear what the agreement consisted of; however, the writing credits for “Shake It Off” remain the same.  Do you think “Shake It Off” and 3LW’s “Playas Gon’ Play” are similar?
