Spike Lee has been a filmmaker for nearly three decades, NOW… he’s finally secured his first Oscar nomination for best director — making him only the sixth black filmmaker to do so in the Academy’s 91-year history – for his incredible work on BlacKkKansman.

BlacKkKansamn is also nominated for best picture, best adapted screenplay, best original score, best editing and best supporting actor (Adam Driver).

The 91st Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), will honor the best films of 2018 and will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. The ceremony will be held on February 24, 2019.
