Coachella Monday… the struggle is real.
The dust has settled, slightly dehydrated, beats still lingering in our ears, eyes craving sleep and hashtags reflecting memories of Weekend 1.
(ARRIVE | Palm Springs)
My Coachella adventure started on Thursday evening at the historical Ingleside Inn in Palm Springs, where Playboy, Indian Motorcycle and NYCult co-sponsored a kick-off party held inside Melvyn’s Lounge featuring a “LIVE” DJ and a special appearance by Hugh Hefner’s son Cooper.

Friday’s festivities kicked off with a brief visit to the KROQ Party House in Bermuda Dunes, where attendees were treated to acoustic sets by select artists performing at the festival. While on site, I was fortunate to catch DREAMCAR, the new “super-group” featuring No Doubt members Tony Kanal, Adrian Young, Tom Dumont and AFI singer Davey Havok, whose melodic, almost operatic vocals and stage presence mesmerized fans during the 3-song set.

From there, I cruised over the the Republic Records | sbe Hyde-Away party sponsored by Hudson and bareMinerals featuring performances by Hailee Steinfeld, Justine Skye and Post Malone. Located at a beautiful estate on Ave.54, the setting included a beautiful lake in the backyard with a spectacular assortment of food ranging from fresh fruit and broccoli salads to grilled chicken breasts and desserts. Reebok was passing out complimentary shoes and if the temps made you sweat, there was a touch-up makeup counter.
It was then time to enter the gates of the Empire Polo Fields and take in the sights and sounds of Coachella! One of my personal highlights of the evening was standing in line behind DNCE to purchase coffee in the VIP area. As it was time to pay, I told Joe that I was picking up the tab for the entire group and thanked them all for giving the world and Mix 100.5 the smash hit “Cake By The Ocean”. While bouncing around the festival grounds, I enjoyed listening to the crisp voice of Father John Misty on the Coachella Stage and dancing to the EDM beats of Steve Angello (of Swedish House Mafia) in the Sahara Tent. Radiohead’s performance did include technical issues beyond their control, but still powered through as loyal fans sang along till the end.
Saturday’s shenanigans kicked off at the Levi’s Lucky Brand “The Lucky Lounge” Desert Jam with special guest Noah Cyrus (yes, Miley’s sis). This event was hosted once again at the Ingleside Inn in Palm Springs, but this time, poolside for many guests to take a dip, cool off, get beautified and enjoy a refreshing cocktail. The day proceeded with a smooth drive down Hwy.111 and heading back to the festival.
Saturday evening was dominated by hip-hop artists Gucci Mane, Schoolboy Q and Future, who may of drawn the biggest crowd of the weekend. Future’s set culminated with media headlines around the globe as special guests Drake, Migos and Ty Dollar $ign made special appearances on stage with him. Even Carolina Panther’s quarterback Cam Newton, New York Giants Wide Receiver Odell Beckham Jr, legendary DJ Tiesto and Kendall Jenner were all seen backstage during the set.
Other notable moments included DJ Snake on the Outdoor Stage welcoming Ms. Lauryn Hill on stage for a couple songs and Migos jumping on as well. Lady Gaga closed out the night by performing hit after hit and debuting a new song “The Cure”. My evening did not end at that point though, as Weekend 1 and Saturday Night = Neon Carnival at Thermal Airport with Levi’s Brand and Tequila Don Julio. The after hours event was attended by A-List celebs Leonardo DiCaprio, Drake, Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Diddy, Jamie Foxx, Aaron Paul, Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas, Alessandra Ambrosio, Vin Diesel, Zedd, Ryan Phillipe, Halsey, French Montana, Future, G-Eazy, Gucci Mane, Alesso, Christina Milian, Scott Eastwood, Tove Lo, Akon, Danny Masterson, Leona Lewis, TY Dolla $ign, Paris Hilton, Michael Costello and many more! Invited guests enjoyed carnival rides and games, a stellar line-up of DJ’s, late night pizza, cocktails and dancing until the early morning hours… after hours at it’s very best courtesy of Brent Bolthouse and Bolthouse Productions.
While Coachella is known for wind, the weather forecast called for “snow” in the Desert courtesy of the Bumble app and the “Winter Bumbleland” party on Clancy Lane in Rancho Mirage. The huge private estate’s backyard was truly transformed into a Winter Wonderland with REAL snow, an igloo ice bar, ice tubing and amazing photo opp’s! Kendall and Kylie Jenner were hosting the 2-day event on Saturday, while Ashley Graham took the spotlight on Sunday.
Arriving on the festival grounds at sunset, I squeezed myself into the Sahara Tent to catch a glimpse of DJ Khaled, whose set was filled with special guests including Rick Ross, 2Chainz and another festival appearance by Migos, who kept it “bad and boujee” all weekend long at Coachella. Porter Robinson & Madeon and Lorde delivered strong performances on the main stage leading up to the headlining extravaganza by Kendrick Lamar, who closed out Weekend 1 with appearances by Future, Travis Scott and Schoolboy Q. In the Sahara tent, Marshmello rocked an energetic set featuring a surprise appearance by Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker on the hit song “Alone”, followed by a drum battle between the two. A$AP Ferg jumped on later in the set as Mello fans danced the night away!

Thank you Goldenvoice and looking forward to Weekend 2!
