Los Angeles And Surrounding Areas Fire Update

A huge forest fire burns at night just outside the Los Angeles city limits

Prepare by packing a suitcase NOW, gathering your pets, pet food and be ready to drive to safer grounds.

Bel-Air fire: A fire shut down both lanes of the 405 Freeway near the Getty Center on Wednesday morning. The LAPD has ordered the evacuation of homes along Casiano Road, Moraga Drive and Linda Flora Drive. Residents of Mandeville Canyon and Sullivan Canyon should be prepared for evacuation the department said.

Ventura County fire: The Thomas fire has reached the Pacific Ocean unchecked and jumped the 101 Freeway into Solimar Beach. It has consumed 50,500 acres and 27,000 people were forced to flee. For now, the 101 Freeway remains open.

Sylmar fire: The Creek fire jumped the 210 Freeway and has spread into Shadow Hills and Angeles National Forest

Santa Clarita fire: Rye fire spreads to 5,000 acres, triggering evacuations and gridlock

San Bernardino fire: A blaze in the foothills threatened the city’s Cal State campus on Tuesday and prompted the closure of the 215 Freeway

TRAFFIC UPDATE

— The Northbound 405 is closed between the 10 and 101 freeways, Southbound 405 closed from the 101 to Sunset Blvd.

— All transition roads at the 405/10 and 405/101 interchanges also are closed

More than 50 schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District are closed today

All of Santa Monica Malibu Unified is closed, along with many Ventura County schools

All Simi Valley Unified campuses will also be closed Wednesday due to the Rye fire in Santa Clarita
