We are officially 26 days away from the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, when gates open on April 14th.
While the festival takes place at the Empire Polo grounds, every city in the Coachella Valley evolves into a playground for the stars with VIP Pool Parties, After Parties, Industry Gatherings and Hollywood Socialites clamoring to take red carpet photos with sponsors listed on the step & repeat. It’s become the Super Bowl of music, as this collection of artists can only be seen in the beautiful Desert of Southern California. While other festivals take place around the world, Coachella is unique in so many ways and the pure essence of the festival should not be forgotten. It’s truly about “MUSIC” and “ART” and the most breath-taking backdrop in the world.
The featured painting of Lady Gaga by Chicago artist Kelli DePaolis (Instagram: @hautemod) is a reflection that many want to get lost in an abstract world of paint brushes and exquisite colors instead of following the pop culture trends and spending hours “following” instead of “creating”. There is still a need, a desire and a craving for real expressions above the filters of social media that unfortunately has transformed this generation through a screen. Kelli, a fan of Lady Gaga, was one who respectfully did not shed a tear upon the news of Beyonce backing out of Coachella due to pregnancy with twins, and embraced the announcement of the new headliner with much joy. While so many people spend hours scrolling news feeds, there are still those that spend their time under the creative umbrella and have a passion to showcase their talent through true art.
Coachella has become a staple for fashionistas, bloggers, magazine editors and stylists, but lets not forget… the “MUSIC” and “ART”
In a fast paced world, you may just miss a beautiful moment because you were too busy face-tuning or finding that precise filter on SnapChat.
The moral of this post is, Coachella is such a unique event that only happens 2 weekends out of the year, it reflects “MUSIC” and “ART” on numerous stages and exhibits on the polo fields. Embrace the beauty within the festival gates and don’t get consumed by the smoke & mirrors that surround the stages on the outskirts of Indio.
What started in 1999, is still present today… it’s the Coachella Valley MUSIC and ARTS Festival.
